Isn't glamour bombing about "freaking the mundanes" or pretending to be a fairy?

No. Absolutely not. I advocate living an authentic magical life rather than just fantasizing or pretending, although I do like the expression "make believe" as in making believe. GB is about shifting perceptions and people often find having their perceptions challenged to be uncomfortable. There may even be those who get disturbed or "freaked out" by anything outside of their ordinary existence. However, the intention is not to distress or disturb anyone out of meanness or just for the fun of it. GB is much more creative and complex than just "freaking" someone out.

The concept of GB was born out of the idea that the veil which separates "magical" reality from "ordinary" reality is an illusion. Most people uphold this illusion as truth, a perception which dulls the ability to see and experience the magic and sentience of the natural world. I can understand why people become frustrated and see the everyday world we live in as mundane. I think it is a very different thing to dismiss people as "mundanes". We are not better or more special than those who don't value or believe in magic and faerie. Everyone has the potential to perceive and experience magic. Since it is the goal of a glamour bombing to enchant people, it doesn't make sense to speak of them contemptuously .

The use of derogatory epithets such as mundanes, muggles, sheep, drones and so forth, seems (to me) to be counterproductive to the purpose and understanding of glamour bombing. It only serves to reinforce the very illusion that GB attempts to break through. There is certainly nothing enchanting about being dismissed as a mundane, muggle, sheep, or drone. It also causes people in turn to dismiss us as self-important kooks.

Don't get me wrong. I'm no Pollyanna. I find the human race to be incredibly frustrating and sometimes horrifying, but on an individual level (we) humans are pure unrealized potential. At heart I'm an optimistic misanthrope. I do not to condemn anyone for using these terms. I just happen to feel that it obscures the intention behind glamour bombing .

This idea of there being inherently magical people and inherently mundane people comes from "fantasy thinking". Fantasy thinking encourages us to detach from our real lives, instead of living a truly authentic and magical life and making it part of our everyday existence. GB is all about using the power of the creative imagination to shape our own perceptions and those of the people around us. This is how magic works, and is very different from fantasy thinking.
